Carnival is a Catholic celebration that takes place in several countries around the world, just before the start of Lent. Therefore, let's see some of these parties in Latin America where these wonderful shows are one of the most anticipated popular traditions due to their incredible parades with happy music and eccentric colorful costumes.


GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR

The Carnival Parties in Ecuador are celebrated throughout the country, with parades, allegorical cars full of flowers, fruits, and beautiful women, games, excellent cuisine, dances, and entertainment in general. The Ecuadorian carnival is very cultural and is celebrated with water, carnival foam, talcum powder, eggs, and flour to paint the face or any type of vegetable paint.

BARRANQUILLA, COLOMBIA

Barranquilla Carnival is one of Colombia’s most important folkloric celebrations and is a fusion of cultures, music, dance, and tradition. The Barranquilla Carnival hosts various events and celebrations such as street parties, costume parades, traditional music concerts, and dances. The highlight of Barranquilla's Carnival is the famous Battle of the Flowers Parade, which draws huge crowds from far and wide.

The winter carnival in Punta Arenas is one of the festivals with the largest number of people; here a large part of the inhabitants go to Bories Avenue to witness the parades of cars, murgas, and batucadas. The street is a stage in movement, full of color and sounds. The most amazing thing is how this great event takes place even below zero!

The Cajamarca carnival combines elements such as costumes, music, parades, and street activities that are carried out by its inhabitants and in which artisans, dance groups, and musical groups participate. In addition to the games with water and ink, no spectator is spared a bucket of water, dyes, and a good drink of chicha de Jora. The purpose of this celebration is to venerate "King Momo", known as "Ño Carnavalón", who represents mockery and sarcasm.
